Location: Fowlerville District Library, 130 South Grand Avenue, Fowlerville, Michigan

Department: Administration

Reports to:  Library Director

Job Type: Full-time, 40-hours per week, exempt

Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 annually

Do you love connecting with teens, building community partnerships, and creating programs people actually want to attend? We’re looking for an energetic, creative, and community-minded librarian to lead teen services while helping expand outreach across our vibrant, engaged community.

We serve a rural community of about 18,000 people who LOVE their library. Our programs are busy, our partnerships are strong, and our staff genuinely enjoys working together.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and lead engaging programs for teens (ages 13-17)
  • Build strong relationships with local schools, organizations, and community partners
  • Provide outreach services beyond the library walls at local school and community events
  • Help develop and maintain a relevant, appealing teen collection
  • Create welcoming spaces where teens feel comfortable and respected
  • Assist with library-wide programming and initiatives for all ages
  • Provide excellent customer service at public service desks

 Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the librarian should be able to:

  • Speak clearly and hear people of all ages, including small children
  • Move, bend, and stay active during programs
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. (books, program supplies, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Must love teens and have a passion for working with teens and understanding of their needs and interests
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a willingness to try new ideas
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work some evenings and occasional Saturdays
  • Experience with programming, outreach, or teen services is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Comfort with public speaking and group facilitation
  • Proficiency with common office and digital tools
  • Familiarity with social media platforms

Work Schedule

40 hours per week with some evenings and the occasional Saturday
