Southwestern Michigan Library Director Opportunity in Cass County Michigan.
It’s rare that you have the opportunity to step into a successful organization. One with strong roots, community support, and secure funding as it has a millage in perpetuity. And yet, also one that seeks your unique talent and experience to partner with the board of trustees, lead and inspire the staff, and make your mark on this time and place in a library’s history as its next leader. Introducing Cass District Library!
Cass District Library | Cass County, Michigan
The library services an area of 52,000 people. The community is rooted in history with its recently renovated 1908 Carnegie library branch, and its strong connections to the Underground Railroad, celebrated annually for its role in promoting freedom with a full weekend celebration each summer. With Kalamazoo to the Northeast, Lake Michigan to the Northwest, South Bend Indiana to the South, and Chicago just a short trip to the West, this highly desirable geographic location will appeal to those seeking a small community surrounded by all the cultural and environmental resources this corner of the State of Michigan has to offer.
This Class V library has an active branch building project underway at approximately 50% completion with a target open date of December 2025. Your project management skills are needed here to collaborate with the building committee and others as needs and questions arise, and to allow for a smooth transition into the new facility.
Cass District Library currently runs as a cohesive system, with little overhaul or restructuring needed. What is needed is your leadership and personal touch to continue our ongoing efforts to serve our community.
