Job Summary

The Frances Willson Thompson Library and Genesee Historical Collections Center seek an Assistant Librarian for User Experience to join a community of information professionals dedicated to empowering intellectual and personal growth through access to diverse resources and a welcoming, student-centered environment. The Assistant Librarian for User Experience coordinates data gathering, analysis, and dissemination for the library and archives and conducts usability studies with students, faculty, and staff. Using this knowledge, they work with colleagues to develop the library and archives’ physical space, website, and other online spaces, with the goal of creating a sense of community for users both in-person and online. They provide assistance and instruction services to students, faculty, staff, and others in support of coursework, research, and general inquiry. In collaboration with colleagues, the person in this position will develop relationships with colleges and schools, academic support units, and other student-facing units at UM-Flint and provide research assistance, specialized research support services, instruction, workshops, and seminars in online and in-person formats.
